The Data Justice Lab is a space for research and collaboration at Cardiff University’s School of Journalism, Media and Culture (JOMEC). It seeks to advance a research agenda that examines the intricate relationship between datafication and social justice, highlighting the politics and impacts of data-driven processes and big data.

Event Overview

To support successful algorithmic fairness interventions, PAI is developing a Participatory and Inclusive Demographic Data Collection Guidelines in collaboration with civil society, academia, and industry stakeholders. Through these guidelines, we hope to better ensure the needs and identities of these communities are adequately represented in datasets used to assess fairness.

This workshop will include a brief presentation on the purpose of the guidebook and the draft guidelines and an interactive component designed to spark discussion among participants on the utility of these guidelines,
