Event Overview

The exponential use of online services across economies and societies is raising increasing safety concerns. One response to such concerns is “eSafety” or “Safety Tech”. eSafety technology providers develop solutions to facilitate safer online experiences, and protect users from illegal and harmful content, contact or conduct.

Recent tools such as Deepfakes and GPTx as well as bots that can convincingly mimic human behaviour are a fundamental challenge to liberal democracy and market economy, as countermeasures such as fact checking and media literacy programs reach their limits. In session III of the G7 Multi-Stakeholder Conference on eSafety, panelists considered privacy-protecting digital identities as a more powerful approach, providing another level of eSafety.
