Overview

The Blueprint for an AI Bill of Rights was released by the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (WHOSTP) on October 4th “to help guide the design, use, and deployment of automated systems to protect the rights of the American public in the age of artificial intelligence.” Partnership on AI (PAI) joined a number of Partners at the White House launch, where we showed support for  the blueprint work as an important milestone in the international effort by countries to center the protection of human rights when AI is put into practice.

We are excited to invite our Partners to our kick off Partners-only event with the WHOSTP to hear from Dr. Alondra Nelson, Deputy Assistant to the President and OSTP Deputy Director for Science and Society and Dr. Sorelle Friedler, Assistant Director for Data and Democracy on moving the AI Bill of Rights ‘from principles to practice’.

Following an initial presentation on the framework and principles underpinning the AI Bill of Rights, we invite you to engage in an interactive Q&A session, open to all PAI Partners and convened by PAI’s Head of Policy, Stephanie Ifayemi, alongside OSTP. The Q&A will be facilitated under Chatham House rules.

Understanding and implementation are the next objectives for OSTP, and we hope you will join us for this initial session to explore the steps already in place within the PAI Partner community that align with the principles in the Blueprint, discuss challenges to implementation and begin to identify how PAI and our Partners can tackle the most urgent areas for action in discussion with OSTP in 2023.
