Event Overview

AI tools are being developed and adopted by more and more industries with the intention of streamlining tasks and creating efficiencies. As many newsrooms are forced to do more with fewer resources, some have looked to AI and other emerging technologies as potential solutions that could augment reporting and improve the bottom line of news businesses.

In this panel, representatives from the AP, the BBC, Twitter, and Partnership on AI will discuss the various sides to the use of AI in newsrooms: what tools are available, what journalists look for in these tools, the hurdles to adoption for small newsrooms in comparison to larger ones, as well as the perspective of social media in platforming news sources.

The panel will include:

  • Laura Ellis from the BBC
  • Dalia Hashim from Partnership on AI
  • Aimee Rinehart from The Associated Press
  • Jennifer Wilson
