Deepfakes to DALL-E: Real Rules for Fake Media
The recent explosion of generative AI and synthetic media has created a multitude of opportunities for the responsible and harmful use of these tools: prosocial use cases like the BBC’s use of AI to swap protestors’ faces in Hong Kong to responsibly report on their activism; and uses that result in real world harm like an AI-generated image of smoke coming out of the Pentagon causing dip in the stock market. This panel will examine the societal impact of generative media and potential mitigation strategies.
