PAI Perspectives: The Next 5 Years in AI

DATE
Dec. 1, 2021
TIME
9:00am – 10:00am ACST
LOCATION
Virtual

What are the most pressing challenges of our time and what role does technology have in pursuit of the answers? What can PAI as a community do to identify these challenges? And can we pool our collective wisdom so that those most affected are part of the process and lead in decision-making instead of being left behind?

We’ve invited a diverse panel of Partners from across disciplines, countries, and perspectives to discuss what they see on the horizon in the next five years.

How can AI be implemented equitably? How can and should those who develop and deploy AI keep people and society centered when designing systems? And, specifically, what can the PAI Partner community learn from each other as we work together to anticipate and prioritize these challenges?

Rebecca Finlay, CEO, Partnership on AI, will facilitate a conversation between our Partners:

Eric Mugendi, Program Manager for Africa, Meedan
Brittany Smith, Policy Director, Data & Society
Lauren Thomas, Research Scientist – Responsible & Inclusive Technologies, IBM
Sarah Treuhaft, Vice President of Research, PolicyLink

Expect a lively discussion and time to engage with each other in spaces moderated by the Heads of PAI’s current Programs.

We will also share highlights of PAI’s new Theory of Change and how PAI and our Partners can work together to create trusted resources, tools, and recommendations to change practice, inform policy, and advance public understanding.
