Lisa Dyer Joins The Partnership on AI as Director of Policy

We are pleased to announce the addition of Lisa Dyer as the Director of Policy at the Partnership on AI (PAI). In this role, Lisa will lead PAI’s policy activities to collaborate closely with policymakers and Partners. As a leader with extensive experience in technology policy formulation, and in translating complex concepts for diverse audiences, Lisa will represent PAI’s work to a global audience of stakeholders and the policymaking community.

Before joining PAI, Lisa served within the U.S. State Department as the Director, Office of Intellectual Property Enforcement at the Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs. In this capacity, she spearheaded the department’s strategy to create concrete intellectual property (IP) protections for the $6.6T U.S. industry operating in foreign markets. Lisa also led the Economic Leadership Development Committee, creating opportunities for State Department employees to hone leadership skills and sharpen their knowledge of key policy and technical issues affecting U.S. businesses.

While working as the Acting Special Representative for the Commercial and Business Affairs, Lisa led a 40-person U.S. Government team that created the 2017 Global Entrepreneurship Summit program hosted in Hyderabad, India. Through the Summit, she coordinated closely with senior White House and Indian government officials. The successful Summit paved the way for India to establish a $1.5B Women Entrepreneurial and Innovation Cell.

“PAI’s mission perfectly encapsulates what excites me most about artificial intelligence: its potential to benefit people and society,” Lisa said on accepting her new role. “I am honored to be selected as PAI’s first Director of Policy. I look forward to working closely with our Partners, the PAI team, and the global AI community to develop and promote research-driven policies that will help fulfill AI’s promise.”

Lisa is a former Midwesterner who has lived on both coasts and in states in between. The Dish, Star Wars, and Springsteen make her smile. We welcome Lisa as we convene the world’s leading thinkers across civil society, companies utilizing AI, and academia to realize the promise of artificial intelligence.
