Partnership on AI Launches New Initiative to Guide Enterprise Organizations in Responsible AI Adoption

Today, Partnership on AI (PAI) launched its Enterprise AI Steering Committee, a new initiative to advance the responsible use of AI systems in enterprise and organizational environments.

According to a recent report, 80 percent of business leaders view the lack of standards on AI ethics, explainability, trust, and bias as a major hurdle to the adoption of generative AI. As private companies and other enterprise organizations integrate traditional and generative AI into their workstreams, it is increasingly important to ensure these systems are adopted and used responsibly to advance beneficial innovation and mitigate risks.

“Since our founding, PAI has recognized that there are many actors in the AI value chain that influence technologies’ impact. Today, I am delighted to announce a new group of Partners focused on the influential leadership of large organizations and enterprises in the responsible deployment of AI-based systems and solutions,” said Rebecca Finlay, CEO, Partnership on AI. “The Enterprise AI Steering Committee members bring a wide range of impressive expertise. I look forward to working with them in support of our mission of advancing positive outcomes for people and society.”

While much of the responsible AI guidance that exists today centers around the development and deployment, there remains a critical need to support enterprise organizations in responsibly adopting and using AI systems. By bringing together leaders from private sector companies, civil society organizations, academia, and philanthropic organizations, PAI’s Enterprise AI Steering Committee will foster a shared understanding of how private companies, and other enterprise organizations, can adopt and implement AI responsibly.

“Salesforce is deeply committed to trusted and ethical AI, especially for the unique challenges enterprises face in deploying these technologies. While much focus is on consumer AI or frontier models, holistic, trustworthy AI solutions for enterprises require dedicated attention,” said Paula Goldman, Chief Ethical and Humane Use Officer, Salesforce. “That’s why our collaboration within the Enterprise AI Steering Committee is vital. By creating a community of practice focused on the enterprise, we can guide the responsible development of AI to benefit society.”

The Enterprise AI Steering Committee will build on the work started in two workshops that PAI co-hosted with Salesforce, the world’s #1 AI CRM helping organizations of any size reimagine their business with Agentforce, exploring responsible AI adoption readiness. The workshops informed PAI’s newly published report: Responsibly Navigating the Enterprise AI Landscape: Promises, Challenges, and Opportunities, which explores:

  • Challenges, including fostering responsible AI adoption readiness; evaluation, monitoring, and compliance; and building trust and collaboration across the AI value chain
  • Opportunities for Research and Collaboration, such as knowledge and terminology alignment, setting up governance structures, and measuring and monitoring frameworks.

Inaugural members of the Enterprise AI Steering Committee include:
